Established by husband and wife duo, Trevor and Margaret Pye, four decades ago, Trevor Pye Transport is marking the company’s 40th anniversary with a new Volvo FH Aero 540 6x2 tractor unit. The new truck will be put to work on temperature-controlled and general haulage jobs across the UK from the firm’s Shropshire base.

Trevor Pye said:  “Volvo has been our manufacturer of choice since we started – we do have other makes on the fleet, but we have always been predominantly Volvo. We like to keep our vehicles on the road for a long-time and they make good, reliable trucks that stand the test of time. We marked the 30th anniversary with a Volvo FH which is still in service, so we hope this new one will perform equally as well.”

The business was founded with a Volvo F7 and Trevor Pye Transport has maintained a good relationship with Volvo ever since. Its latest addition was supplied by Jack Hulse, fleet solutions manager at Hartshorne Group and equipped with a 540hp engine with maximum torque of 2600Nm.

The FH Aero is adorned with a roof-mounted lightbar, Alcoa Dura-Bright alloy wheels and hand painted anniversary signwriting. Its new driver benefits from a full leather interior inside the Globetrotter cab as well as electronic air conditioning, adjustable steering wheel with neck tilt, microwave and fridge/freezer.

Pye added: “The FH Aero is replacing a vehicle from a different manufacturer, and we’ve certainly had no complaints from the driver. He seems very happy with his new truck.”

The vehicle also features Volvo’s I-See predictive cruise control which is designed to help drivers optimise fuel economy by taking into account topography and other road environments like roundabouts, bends, and changing speed limits. Safety equipment includes side collision avoidance support to alert the driver of pedestrians, cyclists or other road users on either side of the truck.
