H.B. Holt & Sons has added a new Volvo FH Aero 540 6x2 tractor unit with a Globetrotter XXL cab to its fleet. The latest addition is the new flagship vehicle in the family-run company’s fleet of 40 trucks. Supplied by Ben Fenton, area sales manager, Crossroads Truck & Bus, around 80% of the haulier’s fleet is made up of Volvo vehicles.

Stuart Holt, director at H.B. Holt & Sons said: “Though we run a mix of marques, for the last five years most of our new arrivals have been Volvos. The product quality and reliability are key for us – two of the most recent trucks to leave our fleet had each just hit 1.6 million kilometres, which is a testament to how reliable Volvo’s technology is.

“Our FH Aero – especially given it is equipped with the XXL cab – will immediately become the stand-out truck in the business. We’re excited to see how it can improve our fuel economy, and the new striking look is already turning heads.”

Compared to the standard FH, the Aero specification offers up to 5% fuel savings and emissions reductions. The truck features Volvo’s camera monitoring system in place of traditional mirrors to improve aerodynamic performance and increase field of view.

The haulier’s new truck has a 540hp engine with maximum torque of 2600Nm between 1,000 and 1,450rpm. A 12-speed I-Shift dual clutch transmission supports smooth gear changes. H.B. Holt & Son added Alcoa Dura-Bright alloy wheels, front air suspension and the Drive+ package which includes electronic air conditioning, dual armrests and leather upholstery. The Globetrotter XXL cab has a longer, wider and lower bed design to improve driver comfort overnight.

The FH Aero is covered by a Volvo gold repair and maintenance contract which takes care of preventative maintenance, repairs, wear and tear and around the clock monitoring of critical components.
